The first is a notice posted by Taemin fansites about the current status of gifts for Taemin’s 21st birthday. After his message in which he thanked fans for their love and support and asked them to share it with those in need, Taemin put it into action; SME would not take birthday gifts from fans in respect of Taemin’s decision. Taemin must have put lots of thoughts into this decision. Someone may think, well fans already prepared these gifts, so why not take them? If he did, it would have tarnished the truthful spirit of Taemin’s message. While thanking so much for fans’ love, Taemin carefully made a request that the love be extended to places most in need. If he took those gifts, it might have looked like just a gesture not verified in action.

The second is a tweet from a pd (it’s said he’s the pd of SHINee’s Vacation). Translated, it says: “I saw a message by a popular idol, just over 20 years old, who would not take birthday gift support and asked (fans) to share with those more in need. Heard that he only takes letters and donation for children in lukemia certificates. I treated him just as a baby but he was more grown-up than me. Remarkable”. Taemin’s message and truthful action are touching and inspiring people as well as shawols.
