and i want them to do grandiose songs, memorable performances (by which i don't mean fanservice) because come on, you get one or two chances a year to do a solo, don't you want your own color to really shine through

anon we are on same page on this subject ;; i wish kpop concerts weren't so tightly regulated, for whatever reason, and that we even got to hear more of the great songs rotting away in their back catalogue

altho re: minho... i love him to bits but maybe to him another usher song is the height of grandiose kekeke

yes, exactly, i wish they were less formulaic and less like typical idol concerts, i want to see something cohesive that looks more well thought out, and i don't mean a big budget production but a tighter production and i want jonghyun's to have a big, soaring solo, heh

and true but i really liked his rapping on this latest album so i deem him fit to experiment and he should do the same

oh, me too, anon, though i didn't really like doing it and i only did it because as director i wanted everything a certain way and in hindsight i was very annoying, lol, but i'm sure either of us could do a decent job

that said, however, i'm sure shinee's team operate under certain constraints and budgets and markets we cannot begin to imagine

minho should do gold digger, the rapping is fairly straightforward and jonghyun can back him, but then again, you need high charisma for that song

that's true, kpop is pm about playing to expectations and it's entirely market-driven. sm don't have to try most of the time, and they don't. i wish they would but who am i etc etc
