yay now that someone mentioned pregnant women i can talk about about an abortion conference i went to last night and how you can consider pregnancy as a disease under legal terms that men bodies' are immune to
immunity coming from the idea that a certain state holds a power over another, for example the united states being able to bomb other countries by explanation of "democracy," but the contradiction lies in that democracy wasn't used when war began, and while they can do that, they are immune to having it done to themselves, because years of history have made them develop an immunity
so in this sense, men hold a higher privilege that makes the bodies of men and women unequal, because of a disease
da but disease is just a bad choice of words. it is definitely a condition, perhaps, a biological one but ia that it is not solved so easily. the reasons for choosing to abort extend into non-biological arenas as well.
no one thinks like that tho, except those people at the conference who have too much time on their hands and think way to hard about things. in normal day to day life, nope.
getting pregnant isn't about immunity it's the fact that they have no physical way of giving birth.
i know people don't normally think about, which is why it was so interesting when the theory was brought up. lol trust me we don't have too much time on our hands, when the conference was held in a poor district and attended by working women who are struggling to get our voices heard
the fact that they have no means of giving birth is what gives them the immunity. how different would if be if men were able to give birth and how would our laws change under that? under the law we have rn, women are only seen as child bearers, which makes abortion illegal as soon as you are married bc there is obviously no reason why you wouldn't want a baby afterwards, since that is your sole reason for existing
da but i thought your point was interesting, though still debatable, op and i totally get where you're coming from as a poc myself. ignore the people who don't understand their privelleges.
