no jjong's always been sidelined and he got into an accident, that wasn't sm's fault. onew had scandals so he's gonna lay low obviously but he's still doing activities so thinking jognyu have suddenly been cast aside and sm wants to kick them to curb bc their osts "didn't sell" is just plain dumb
ost sales are a good indicator of individual commercial appeal. jjong hasn't fared well. onew actually sold reasonably well, but he's been sidelined since before the scandal.
it didn't do well despite being attached to a high profile drama this time round the ost was on a much smaller scale - no press releases, no famous composer or production team, low profile drama
it seems like a deliberate choice, a test either that or they were just throwing him a bone
they're giving the other members a chance to shine rn. onew had his turn in 2010 with 2 musicals and mcing a show, and in 2011 mcing music core. he djed a lot earlier this year, recorded golden camera by himself after his scandals, has been on numerous shows with just key, taemin or minho before the scandals. he still does quite a lot of stuff even if it's nothing major. i don't see that as being sidelined. jjong is jjong it's been this way for him since forever, i don't see how his osts have anything to do with it.
their activities are not mutually exclusive. giving some members more opportunities than before does not mean that onew had to be cut out. I'm curious about why they've done so because given onew's popularity with the public and production teams, he should have no trouble securing more substantial gigs
jjong has never had a lot. the poor performance of his osts just gives sm even more reason to sideline him even in music projects.
idk what you expect him to do, or why you would expect him to be doing more substantial things nonstop every single year like what he's doing isn't enough
so he's not mcing a new show or going on wgm, it's not a big deal and something could still come along later, stop being so pessimistic
